Introduction: With our music video we have one character that are involved within the creation of the video so that he is shown as a cameo within the music video. As the audience will be expecting him within the video as it is the artists best friend.

 

 

 

Conclusion:
In conclusion with this planning it has allowed us to be able to use one character are like and what he would be like within the music video, with this it allows for some planning in the idea of how the character will be looking and how they will be acting within the music video.

Planning: Lighting & Colour - Ms Begum

Introduction:

Within our music video, we are going to use a lot of low key lighting and colour. This is because the colours and the low key lighting within the music video we are planning to use goes along with the mood and feel our video.

Angles of Lighting:

Lighting and colour– Smile 

The lighting is natural lighting which adds a very natural and soft tone to the events in the music video. There are also moments of high key lighting which I like as it enhances ‘star image’ and the activities that the characters are engaging in. The colour almost has a brown/gold look to it which suits the genre of Jazz/swing because it sets a very relaxed mood to it. I like the use of lighting and will look to use this, as the soft tones reflect what we will be looking to show. 

 

 

 

Lighting and colour – Suit and Tie 

It is black and white in colour. I really like the use of this as it is cool and urban and gives the video a really classic look for such a modern artist. The lighting is low-key at times, and also high-key depending on what activities they are engaging in. I really like the use of black and white to create a classic feel to the video so this is something I will want to include in my video, especially at the start to create mystery around my character. 

 

 

 

Lighting and colour – That’s life 

Because of the time period this video was filmed in, naturally it is in black and white. This allows the video to have a mature look to it and like the ‘Suit and Tie’  video, this is something I want to implement in my music video. 

 

 

 

I definitely feel like I will use black and white colour in my music video, and keep to really soft lighting to create a chilled atmosphere within my narrative.  

 

 

 

 



Planning: Editing - Ms Begum

Editing

Introduction:
I have chosen 5 or more editing techniques that we are going to be using in the creation of this music video. We have chosen this techniques due to them being able to help the music video be at a higher standard that we want.

Editing Techniques:

Rewind - With this technique we aim to use this at the beginning of the music video where we show the first person in the video smoking. With this we are going to have a close up of the smoke and do a edit of it going backwards.

Slow motion: We are going to be using this techniques in various places within the music video. Such as the smoke in the beginning, the time relapse and when the characters are getting ready. This is because we are trying to show something within that section or because it suits the idea we are trying to portray.

Cross Cut: We are planning to use this editing technique throughout the music video due it being one of our main edits will be using mainly in this video.

Jump Cut: With this technique we are going to be using this to show the series of locations within the music video, and also the idea of showing time going by within the video. Furthermore with this It also shows an idea of a montage as it is a series of the different locations being used.

Time Relapse: We are going to be using this technique around the middle of the song to show the idea of time being passed while the friends are doing actives and what they do on a night out. Also with this it allows the idea of us using this technique to show the location as well as the jump cuts.

Conclusion:
In conclusion with some of these editing techniques I we have allowed our self's to be able to plan what we will be doing when editing. Which has allowed us to be prepare when creating the music video.

Planning: Production Roles - Ms Begum

Production Roles

Production Roles:
Production roles are the roles that the people have during the production of the music video, there are 10 different roles within the production of this music video.

Director:
This is the person will over see the whole creation of the music video, he/she is in charge of everything that happens. Throughout this whole creation of the film the producers will give ideas of what they want for the film and if the director will like it he will use it but any choice that will be made will be by him as he is the person that has the ultimate say.

Producer:
This is the person that will manage all of the budgets within the making of the music video. Also as the producer this is also the main person that works alongside with the director to gives ideas of what could happen but he only can give ideas towards the creation of the music video. Furthermore he works much closer with the cast and calls quite a lot of the shots, but the director calls the final shots within the production of the music video.

Camera Operator:
What the camera operator is the person that takes the footage of the music video, the camera operator works with the storyboard manager to get the correct camera shots, angles and movements in order to get the correct emotional feelings that the director wants from the audience when watching the music video. 

Editor:
Editing Manager gets the footage of the music video, and edits the scene to create the effect upon the audience. The editor will work with the camera operator in order to create the scenes and shots director would want without making the audience confused at what they are watching.

Story boarder:
This is the person that will put the narrative into a graphic pictures, what the story boarder does is create the illustrating images that are in a order to tell the narrative. Also what this role does is the person has to think of the camera size, angles and movement as the camera man will work with the story boarder to get the idea of what to take when shooting the music video.

Hair, Make Up & Costume:

The person that does all the hair and make up for the character, will be important because they are in charge of what the actors will look like, also the costume for the film is decided as well because it will have to go with the stereotypes that the music video might use of the character or not. But the costume is important because this is what the actor will wear for the music video.

Actor/s:
With being an actor, this is the person that will be acting a certain role within the film. This role is important because you will need a actor to act in the film, and there are different types of acting roles.

Photographer:

With having this role of a photographer, this person is the one who will be taken the pictures for the digipak and the advertisement of the music video.

Print designer:

This is the role where this person will be taking the images from the photographer and being able to edit the images to the outcomes that the director would want to help advertise this music video.

Roles Within The Music Video:

Darhyl:

As the group has pick me to be the director due to the experience from before in other productions like this. I have been picked for this role because I have good leadership skills and is very organised in when doing something and getting the work done.

Furthermore I am taking the role of the camera man due the experience in being a cinematographer, as I have experience in this field of work.

Sean:

As a group we have chosen for Sean to be story boarder, this is due to him having experience in coming up with the ideas and concepts for the music video and also knowing in how to put this all together.

Furthermore we have chosen Sean to be the editor as well due to him having this role from last year and it working out great, with some help from the cast. Also with this it allows for his experience in the field to work better in creating the music video.

As another role we have agreed for Sean to take is the location manager due to him knowing a lot of places where we can film, also with the legal paper work allowing for the crew and cast to film there.

Kloe:

We have chosen Kloe as the producer due her knowing how to communicate with the other members in the cast, also knowing what is going on in the production of the music video, but doesn't call some shots as that is what the director is for.

Moreover we have given Kloe the role of being the costume, hair & make up due to her being the one with this role from our other production and with this she already has experience in this line of work.

Roles that have been split:

Also I am taking on another two roles partially as it going to be taken as a joint role of being a photographer and the print designer, with Kloe. This is due to me having knowledge in the use of Photoshop and a Photographer as I am a Photography student with me and Kloe taking this role joint, is due to our experience and also because it makes sense in them both being split as I have more knowledge in being a photographer than she does but yet also she has got more knowledge in Photoshop and with putting us both in this position allows for the work to be done faster yet also better as we can come up with better ideas for the outcome of the digipak.

Conclusion:
In conclusion I have learned a lot from this planning in helping us create our production much more efficient and with this all the experience that we have we will be working as a team. Furthermore with all the experience we have and distributing the roles evenly by working out who is stronger in certain areas, then it allows the production to work well.



Planning: Pre-Production Paperwork - Ms Begum

Pre-Production Paperwork

What is it?
What the pre-production paperwork, is the beginning process planning before starting to actually film. With this in mind, this is where the director, producer and the crew members choose where they would want to film, and the actors that they want for the film. The pre-production paper work for the creation of the film contains of; location recce, production schedule, location release form, client release form and the risk assessment. 

With the creation of the pre-production paper work it allows the cast/crew member to have in idea of what they are meant to do and where to be. Without having this pre production paper work, the crew and the cast members would have some chaos while filming if we don't have the paper work done. Also while filming we could be sued for any damage made because we wouldn't have any paper work.

Production Schedule:

What is a production schedule?
This is what, the times the people and the actors. Everyone that is meant to be at the certain location at the correct time to film the scene/s of the film. What this does, is allow the talent, the specific crew to be there, and the props that is needed within the scene/s as well. This schedule has all the times, location and equipment to be at the location to film the talent that is in the scene, with this schedule it makes it easier for the cast/crew to be able to film the scene/s that is needed as time cannot be wasted.

Location Release Form:

What is a location release form?
Location release form, is a legal document that talks about the terms, conditions and the agreements with the company/council/people that are allowing us as a group to film in the locations e.g. Sean's house, Piccadilly Circus etc. With this document that has been given to the people/council/company that allow us to use the location, in order for this to happen we had to make the document clear that we have agreed and will follow the terms and conditions that they have. This show the production company that they have understood the agreements and their right to film on the premises of the location on our own. For example they have the right to tell use when we are able to use the location.

Client Release Form:

What is a client release form?
Client release form is a legal document that is used in real production companies, what this document is used to discuss all of the terms and the agreements that have been set between the director, producer and the actors. This document is given to everyone that will be taking part in the music video, as they will be apart of the cast member. This also thanks the actors for the agreements that they have made and for them taking part in the filming.

Location Recee:

What is a location recce?
Location recce is the paper work that tells the cast, crew member's and the teacher where the location of where we are filming the thriller film/scene. With doing this, this allows us to show the other people how to get to the location with the directions from the school, this is also important because if there is an emergency that happens we inform the teacher and it will be easy from them to get to the locations with the location recce showing the directions there. This document has to be given to everyone that is cast and crew members, so that they know the location of where the filming is.

Risk Assessment:

What is a risk assessment?
Risk assessment form is an analysis of the location and the props or just general risks that may occur while being in the location. What the risk assessment does is shorten down the risks to the important and more dangerous ones and also summarises how the production crew and cast can be able to over come them. This document has to be given out to everyone while part of filming/filming team so they have all the information about the risks while being on set.

Advantages:
- With having these documents it allows us to legally film in the locations we have picked out.
- With doing the risk assessment it allows for everyone to know what the risks are and how to overcome them.
- Shows that we are prepared when filming this music video.
- Shows we have got a time table when we are filming, and the people who are involved.

What is it?

This paperwork is a shot list of all the shots that will be done within the music video. This paperwork will go to the camera so that he knows how the story goes as well as also knowing how to shoot it. This paperwork helps the camera man do the job properly, also with this it allows for it to be easier when in the editing process of the music video.

Dyer: ‘Star Theory’ Audience and Industry – I will show this by trying to turn my artist into a commodity with his moreish personality and one that the public can relate to. The artist will be portrayed in a handsome way in order to appeal to a female audience.  

Hebdige: I do not want to appeal to a sub-culture nor too niche and audience so I do not need to consider Hebdige in my artist representation.
