Outline Of The Narrative

Lyrics Analysis Finalised:
As we have finished finalising the ideas for "Tom Misch - Follow", as a group we have analysed key points within the lyrics where certain themes will be portrayed within the song, such as friendship, having fun, gambling and drinking. We have also decided to have a mixture of performance and narrative within the music video to display the narrative of the two friend friends having fun in central London. The basic storyline of the music video is where we show the idea of the friendship between the two friends. 



Theory's That Are In Our Music Video:

Goodwin:
- Notion of looking, making the artist looking like Christian Grey, by showing him loosing his tie to create sex appeal to the audience.
- Technique elements using the low key lighting, the editing & iconography as appropriate to lyrics in the music video.
- Relationship between lyrics & visuals when they sing about follow we will show friendship. 
- Star image shown as he will be lip syncing the song mainly the chorus as well as the other character will be singing along with the song as well.
- It is a performance & narrative based.
- Relation between music & visual in the video.


Dyer:
- Star image will be shown within the video, as the star appearance will always be shown within the video through medium close ups and close ups.
- Ideology & culture of the star will be shown within the music video as well as drinking, playing cards and dancing.
- Character & personality, the star provides audience with focus for ideas of "what people are supposed to do".


Laura Mulvey:
- As for carrying on from the Goodwin theory we will go into more depth with the notion of looking, as the camera will linger around the female assets, and this will be shown in a heterosexual male's point of view.

Analysis of my music video:

Due to the nature of the song, we want our music video to look quite ‘old skool’ and traditional in its look and style. As it fits the Jazz genre, we want it to look really laid back and stripped back by showing traditional male ideas. Our research into music video has been really beneficial here as it has developed our ideas and allowed us to plan further. Our song will feature lots of performance from the male artist to show his star image, but analysing the lyrics has allowed to think about an appropriate narrative to also incorporate within the video.

The video will be based around the theme of friendship between the male artist and his best friend. Throughout the music video we will see the friends be spending time with each other the "bromance", and with doing this we will we showing them dancing about, gambling and looking at girls throughout.

By doing this within the music video it shows the jazz genre about the themes it portrays the friendship by it linking in with each other. and throughout the music video from beginning, middle and end it will show the story of how close they are as friends and further portray the comedic feel to it as well.
