Censorship

Introduction:
Censorship in the music industry/music videos, is an act where they would censor words or alter it, also visuals in the video in order to abide by the laws in society and wouldn't harm some of the audiences.
There is lyric censorship within the industry, this is because of the music that would be made that has strong adult language in it, where this would be unsuitable for the younger audience. With censorship with the music is necessary due to the music could be harmful to the audience in what they hear and see. With the music video if there is harmful or inappropriate images which is not safe for the audience to see. Also some images could be influencing the audience in bad way which could be a negative effect on the audience.

Parental Advisory Explicit Content:

This is a warning to the parents of the child who would buy the album and see that the music video would have explicit content. And to watch it the parent should aprove it and watch when they do so when something unsuitable for them is shown the parent can stop it or allow the child to see it if they have permission to watch it.

Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics:

This is another type of warning to the audience/parents of the child who would buy an album with this sign. This is a warning to the audience where there is strong language within the lyrics of the song, this could be bad because it could influence the child to copy the bad language that is said in the songs.

  1. Darhyl, a good post here where you discuss the topic of censorship in music videos. You highlight well what ideas get censored and refer to some good existing examples. The difference between video and lyric censorship is also discussed which is good, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of censorship in videos.

    To improve;
    -think about the audience of Miley's video and how this might be seen as controversial
    -what are your opinions on music video censorship?
